Purpose

To recognize the Associated Students of College of Western Idaho (“ASCWI”) as the official student voice in CWI’s decision-making process and to provide certain guidelines regarding ASCWI’s operations

Scope

Applies to ASCWI and all students at CWI who belong to ASCWI.

Policy

CWI recognizes ASCWI as the official student voice in decision-making processes. ASCWI shall conduct itself in accordance with applicable laws and regulations as well as the policies and procedures established by the Director of Student Affairs. Further, ASCWI’s operations shall be subject to the guidelines set forth below:

Guidelines

  • Any student elected as an officer in ASCWI shall meet the following requirements: (i) enrollment for a minimum of six (6) credits at the time of election and through the term of office; and (ii) maintenance of standards of scholarship at a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2.5.
  • ASCWI funds shall be deposited and disbursed by the CWI President or designee. Such funds are subject to an annual audit and may only be deposited or invested in ways authorized by law. All funds shall be expended according to procedures established by ASCWI, subject to the approval of each of the following persons, which shall be obtained before each expenditure:
    • a duly-appointed representative of ASCWI;
    • the CWI advisor of ASCWI; and
    • the CWI President or designee.
