The criteria used in evaluating faculty performance for both summative and formative assessments are related to job and rank responsibilities and should be understood by all parties before the evaluation process begins. (Please Note: A performance evaluation does not occur if there is a deficiency of performance. A Performance Plan may be developed in this case, as part of the overall performance management.)
