DIAL 9-1-1 FOR EMERGENCIES

To report a crime that is not an emergency or to report suspicious activity, members of the campus community should contact Campus Security at 208.562.3333 or security@cwi.edu.

If you have information about a crime that has occurred on campus but wish to report the information anonymously, call Crime Stoppers at 208.343.COPS. Your information will be taken with the strictest confidence by specially trained personnel. Tipsters are issued code numbers to protect their anonymity and never to provide their name or personal information.

CWI Campus Security is available to provide assistance during posted building hours. Campus Security provides class schedules, directions, and help initiate contact with teachers.

Security Services

  • Security Chaperone Services

    Individuals can call (208) 562-3333 and request Chaperone Service. An officer will be dispatched to their location and assist them by walking to class or to their vehicle.

    This service is only offered on CWI campus grounds and is only offered on foot. We do not provide vehicle transport with this service. This service is available during building hours. Building hours are subject to change depending on holidays or semester breaks.

  • Vehicle Services

    Jump Starts

    In the event your vehicle will not start due to a dead battery, contact CWI Security at 208.562.3333 and ask for a jumpstart assist.  A member of our team will respond to your campus location with a jumpstart pack, ask you to sign a liability release form, and will make every attempt to get your vehicle battery started again. A valid State Identification card or CWI Identification card is required.

    Appointments for this service are not available, the individual must be at the vehicle at the time of service. This service is available during building hours. Building hours are subject to change depending on holidays or semester breaks.

    If the vehicle is unable to be started, CWI Security will note the vehicle is currently inoperable and work with the individual to assist with removal of the vehicle from campus.

    CWI is not liable for any damages that could occur as result for the request for Jump Start. Please consult your owner’s manual to confirm a jump start will assist you in your needs.

    Vehicle Unlocks

    The College of Western Idaho does not provide vehicle unlock services. We are happy to assist with finding and calling an external locksmith at your cost.

    If the vehicle is unable to be unlocked, CWI Security will note the vehicle is currently inoperable and work with the individual to assist with the removal of the vehicle from campus.

    Flat Tires

    The College of Western Idaho does not provide direct assistance for flat tires due to liability reasons. We are happy to help with finding and calling an external source to assist you at your cost.

    If the vehicle is unable to be repaired, CWI Security will note the vehicle is currently inoperable and work with the individual to assist with the removal of the vehicle from campus.

  • Lost and Found

    The College of Western Idaho (CWI) has developed a Lost and Found procedure to assist students, faculty, staff, and visitors in recovering and safely protecting valuables that are lost during day to day events at CWI locations.  Whether you lost an item or found someone’s lost property, please visit the nearest security desk which are located at the following locations:

    • Nampa Campus Micron Education Center (NMEC)
    • Nampa Campus Academic Building (NCAB)
    • Nampa Campus Aspen Classroom Building (NASP)
    • Canyon County Center (CYNC)
    • Ada County Center Pintail Building (APIN)

    Responsibilities

    CWI Campus Safety department will gather and return items to their rightful owner as quickly as possible.

    All reasonable efforts will be made to find lost and found items.

    CWI holds no responsibility or liability for lost items on CWI property.

    General Guidelines

    All items found will be kept for 90 days and recorded on the “Lost and Found Return Log” at the security desk.

    General items such as books, sweaters, coffee cups, water bottles, etc. will be kept in the lost and found location where it was lost and can be claimed by contacting security.

    Laptops, tablets, I-Pads, USB devices, cell phones, and electronic devices will be transferred and can be claimed by contacting the Information Technology (IT) department at the location where the device was lost.

    Valuable/personal items such as jewelry, wallets, purses, driver license, credit cards, etc. will be transferred within two (2) business days to a locked safe at the Facilities Planning & Management Department at the Nampa Campus Multipurpose Building (NCMP). If items found have owner information, a notification letter will be sent to the owner. The letter will not contain any information specific to the item but will notify them of the item. Contact Campus Security to claim these items 208.562.3333 or security@cwi.edu.

    Prescription medication will be turned into local law enforcement. 

    Unclaimed Items

    After 90 days, all items will be disposed of properly. 

    General items will be donated to local thrift stores. The Lost and Found Donation Log and receipts will be used for record keeping purposes. 

    Valuable/personal items will be turned into local law enforcement and noted on the Lost and Found Return Log.
