Credit for Prior Learning

As a student at College of Western Idaho (CWI), you may have acquired certain skills and knowledge through independent intellectual pursuits, training and education, or life experiences. Demonstration of this knowledge may be converted into college credit to fulfill degree and certificate requirements through Prior Learning Assessments (PLA).

In addition to reviewing the information below, students interested in utilizing PLA are encouraged to discuss their options with an advisor

  • View course descriptions and degree and certificate requirements in the Academic Catalog
  • View information about credit for prior learning including standardized exams, vertical credit, challenge exams, and portfolios in the PLA Student Handbook.
  • View the College's PLA Policy for information on how PLA is awarded at CWI.
