Students and members of the community taking an exam at a College of Western Idaho (CWI) Testing Services location are expected to adhere to the following policies and procedures.
Identification
Testers will be required to present a valid form of identification prior to testing.
- Identification must be government-issued and non-expired.
- Acceptable forms of identification include a driver’s license, state ID, military ID, passport, legal resident ID, or current CWI student ID.
- Current high school ID cards may be used for placement testing.
- Photos of identification will not be accepted.
Test Scheduling
To ensure the best testing experience, be sure to schedule your exams in a timely manner. It is the student's responsibility to know who their instructor is, course name and number, exam time limits, open and close dates, restrictions and permitted items.
- Proctored exams must be scheduled at least 12 hours in advance.
- Exams with accommodations must be scheduled at least 24 hours in advance.
- Walk-in exams are not permitted at this time.
- Students who arrive more than 30 minutes late to a scheduled exam appointment may be asked to reschedule.
- Students running late may call within 30 minutes of their scheduled exam to be moved to the next available time slot that day, depending on availability.
- All exams must be completed 15 minutes prior to closing.
Testing Supplies
The following items will be provided by Testing Services prior to exams, as allowed.
- pencils
- calculators
- scratch paper (Scratch paper will be collected upon exam completion and may not be removed from the testing area.)
Calculators
- Personal calculators are permitted as approved by the instructor.
- Calculators are subject to inspection and memory clearing by Testing Services staff prior to being allowed into the testing area.
- Notes stored in calculators will not be permitted.
Prohibited Items
The following items are not allowed in the assessment lab and must be stored in a provided locker:
- electronic & Bluetooth devices (phones, music players, cameras, USB drives, headphones/earbuds, etc.)
- hats, caps, scarves, over-sized coats or jackets
- hoods may not be covering your head while testing
- religious headwear may be worn
- wrist watches and fitness trackers
- sunglasses
- food, water bottles, or other drinks
- personal pens or mechanical pencils
- notebook or notes (unless authorized by the instructor)
- backpacks, purses, or wallets
Students accessing prohibited items or information during an exam will have their exam stopped and asked to leave. Any cheating, suspected cheating, or possessing prohibited items on or near your testing area will be reported to your instructor and will be regarded as a violation of the Student Code of Conduct. Any violations may result in student disciplinary actions, up to and including expulsion.
Children
Children under the age of 16 may not be left unattended in the Testing Services lobby area and may not accompany testers into the testing lab. Campus Security will be contacted for any children left unattended.
Remote Proctoring
Testing Services provides in-person, academic, ADA accommodated, and professional testing services to our students and community. In our efforts to maintain a safe, well-staffed, and secure proctoring environment, we are not able to offer remote proctoring services. CWI has chosen Honorlock as our campus vendor to deliver all remote class exams. If you have online students or courses, please contact Center for Teaching and Learning for Honorlock training and support.
Rescheduling
- To reschedule your exam, please contact Testing Services within 24 hours of your exam appointment.
- Exam fees that have already been paid will be applied to your new appointment.
Cancellations & Refunds
- To receive a full refund for an exam, contact Testing Services three (3) business days or more from your scheduled exam.
- Exams cancelled less than three (3) days prior to your scheduled exam will be charged a $3.50 administrative fee.
- Refunds will not be granted for missed appointments. If you missed your exam due to extenuating circumstances and feel an exception should be granted, please contact Testing Services.
