A Win For Students
For student-athletes, athletics at CWI will offer more than the opportunity to compete, this experience will complement their education by helping them grow personally, academically, and socially while developing skills they can carry into their careers and communities.
Participating in athletics will give students opportunities to:

- Give local student-athletes an option to compete while pursuing a college education without having to leave the region or state.
- Strengthen community connections by bringing students, faculty, staff, alumni, families, and community members together.
- Support student success by creating another pathway for students to stay connected, engaged, and working toward their educational goals.
- Build for the future through an endowment-funded model designed to provide long-term stability for each sport.
The Path Forward
Build it Right
CWI will field a team only when it is fully funded, ensuring each sport is positioned for long-term success. Rather than relying on annual appropriations or recurring fundraising campaigns, each sport will be supported by an endowment that provides dependable annual funding while preserving the principal. This approach creates a sustainable foundation for CWI Athletics and protects students, taxpayers, and the College. Every team CWI fields is built to compete not just for one season, but for seasons to come.
Keep Talent in Idaho
Ninety-eight percent of CWI students come from Idaho. They were raised here, their families are here, and many are building their futures here. Yet, student-athletes have often had to cross state lines or leave southwest Idaho to find opportunities to compete at the collegiate level while earning a degree. CWI Athletics will create another option, giving student-athletes the opportunity to compete, pursue their education, and stay connected to the communities they call home.
Compete Regionally
CWI Athletics creates an additional pathway to stay in the Treasure Valley, pursue an education, and compete against regional peers in the Scenic West Athletic Conference under the National Junior College Athletics Association (NJCAA).
The College's application for NJCAA membership is under review with a decision pending Spring 2027.

Success in athletics is never achieved in isolation — it requires the full support of students, faculty, staff, alumni, and community. When we all pull in the same direction, athletics becomes a powerful catalyst for school spirit, student success, and institutional advancement.
