Explore College of Western Idaho (CWI) Healthcare Programs at an open house highlighting the healthcare programs offered at CWI’s Ada County Campus. On April 7 from 5:30-7:30 p.m., the College will showcase programs like; Dental Assisting, Surgical Technology, Medical Assistant, Medical Billing and Coding, Pharmacy Technician, Phlebotomy, Nursing Assistant, Dental Office Administration, and more.
The open house will feature hands on activities during breakout sessions. Attendees will also get to participate in an interactive tour of CWI’s Ada County Campus.
According to the United States Department of Labor, healthcare will be the Idaho’s fastest growing sector with 29,000 new jobs by 2020. Hospitals will add over 9,900 jobs in the next eight years. Idaho’s healthcare is growing at 36 percent, a rate that is faster than the nation’s at a growth rate of 34 percent.
CWI offers training for a number of hot careers in healthcare. As of January 2016, Phlebotomists in Idaho make between $28,650 and $35,514. The average salary for Medical Billing is $31,350 while Pharmacy Technicians make an average of $32,177. Projections show the number of Dental Assisting jobs to increase 18 percent, while Surgical Technology has a 15 percent growth rate and Medical Assistant is expected to grow 23 percent.
