CWI 101 Connecting With Ideas courses are designed to prepare students with the skills to succeed in college, a career, and life including:
- academic expectations and strategies
- college resources and services
- personal responsibility
- engagement
Additionally, students will develop an individual Pathways to Career plan.
Completion of a CWI 101 course is a general education requirement of students seeking to earn an Associate of Arts (AA) or Associate of Science (AS) degree from CWI. Students are encouraged to take CWI 101 during their first semester.
CWI 101 Pathways
Five CWI 101 pathways are available, each providing a goal-based approach to student success.
- Pathways to Career Exploration
Introduces students to majors and careers in humanities, English, studio arts, languages, liberal arts, and other fields. Students of any major may choose this pathway to explore a variety of career paths.
- Pathways to Business, Communication, and Information Technology
Introduces students to majors and careers in business, communication, and information technology. This pathway is limited to students in majors related to business, communication, or information technology.
- Pathways to Health Science
Introduces students to majors and careers in health science, public health, exercise science, and related fields. This pathway is limited to students in majors related to health science.
- Pathways to Social Sciences
Introduces students to majors and careers in fields such as criminal justice, public policy, fire management, psychology, and social work. This pathway is limited to students in majors related to the social sciences.
- Pathways to STEM
Introduces students to majors and careers in science, technology, math, and engineering. Students in majors related to science, technology, engineering, or math should choose this pathway to explore relevant career paths.
