Sara Hoyt, MS, MBA is the Director of College of Western Idaho’s Cyber Defense Center. She holds a Master’s of Business Administration with a focus in Management, and a Master’s of Science in Cyber Operations & Resilience.  She also owns and operates her own cyber security business, Cyber Shield Elite. Prior to joining College of Western Idaho, Sara worked at Micron Technology, Inc. for over 10 years. Micron is a Fortune 500 company, and one of the largest semiconductor companies in the world.

Sara is also involved heavily with both WiCyS (Women in Cyber Security) global, and the Idaho WiCyS affiliate chapter. She mentors within the WiCyS global audience, and is the Vice President of the local WiCyS Idaho chapter.  Sara is dedicated to increasing the diversity among the cyber security community, and bringing together those who have various backgrounds in cyber for the betterment of the industry. 

Sara is College of Western of Idaho’s Cyber League Coach, Dual Credit Student Club Advisor, and their Cybersecurity NCAE-CD (National Centers of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense) accreditation alternate point of contact.  Sara is also an EC-Council mentor, and a CPNC (Careers Preparation National Center) Competency Trainer for the NCAE-CD.  As one of the very few trainers in the nation, she is ensuring that graduating and completing students have the knowledge, skills, and competencies required for government and industry employment based on requirements identified by participating employers.
