Richard Carico is a Battalion Chief with the Caldwell Fire Department.  He has been with CFD for 23 years, five of which he was a paid on call firefighter and the last 18 years as a full time firefighter.  Richard is a second generation firefighter with Caldwell Fire and has held the rank of firefighter, driver/operator and captain throughout his career at CFD.

Richard has an A.A.S. in Fire Service Technology from CWI and is currently working towards his B.S. in Fire Service Administration at Eastern Oregon University.  He completed the Managing Officer Program through the National Fire Academy and is a Fire Officer Designated through the Center for Professional Excellence.

Richard has held many different roles during his time at Caldwell Fire.  For the last 8 years he has been part of the hiring committee for Caldwell Fire.  He was a member of the Region 3 Hazardous Materials Team for 12 years.  Richard has assisted with multiple entry level and lateral academies in the Treasure Valley and for Caldwell Fire.  He also holds IFSAC certifications to the Fire Officer II level.
