Darrin is the Director of the Fire Service Program at the College of Western Idaho and leads the program that consists of a Basic Technical Certificate in which the students could be certified as IFSAC Fire Fighter I at the end of a fire academy training program. The Fire Service Program is also expanding and more information will be available about this expansion in May 2020.
After 23 years of fire service, Darrin retired in 2019 as a Captain (17 years on an engine and truck) with the North Las Vegas Fire Department in Nevada; has been a licensed Paramedic for over 27 years; and has been teaching since 1999. Darrin has obtained his State of Nevada certificates as a Fire Service Instructor I and II; Fire Service Company Officer I and II; Fire Safety Officer; Vehicle/Machinery Rescue Technician; and Rope Rescue Technician. Darrin also has received an Associate’s degree in Fire Service Management from the College of Southern Nevada in 2019.
Darrin has been married for over 25 years, has two children, and relocated from Nevada to Idaho in 2016.
