She has been teaching at the College for the past four years. Prior to teaching, Wallgren worked in various higher education roles for over 13 years. In her spare time, Wallgren stays busy shuffling her two kids to taekwondo practices and tournaments and hanging out with her husband. She enjoys reading, although these days “reading” means listening to audiobooks.
College Welcomes Steve Berenter
As College of Western Idaho (CWI) has grown into one of the largest higher education institutions in the state, our needs regarding legal counsel and services have also grown.
Steve Berenter will be joining CWI as the in-house General Counsel, effective June 28. Currently, Steve is an attorney and partner with Hawley Troxell, the law firm currently supporting CWI’s outsourced legal services.
He has been directly involved in working with CWI since 2010 and brings a wealth of experience, knowledge, and understanding of CWI and higher education into this new role. In addition to Employment Law, Steve will also support the College’s need for legal expertise in collection, litigation, education, policies, tax, elections, foundation and other areas that may arise. He received a bachelor’s degree from Stanford University and his law degree from the University of Washington.
Steve’s start date reflects an important transition from his current practice to join CWI. The in-house General Counsel role will report directly to Craig Brown, Vice President of Operations. Bringing Steve into this role is a great opportunity for the College and Steve, and we are excited to have him filling this important position.
