What does it take to build a career in one of Idaho’s fastest-growing high-tech industries? Find out Tuesday, Oct. 20, at Micron Day at College of Western Idaho (CWI), an event connecting students, job seekers and community members with high-demand career opportunities and the education and training needed to get there.
Held as part of CWI Week, Micron Day will offer two opportunities to attend. Current CWI students are invited from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event will open to the public, including alumni, high school students, career changers, and anyone interested in exploring a high-tech career from 4 to 7:30 p.m.
Micron Technology, Inc. hiring managers and affiliate business partners will be on hand to share information and conduct live interviews for those interested in working in the semiconductor industry or supporting a state-of-the-art fabrication facility.
As a core education partner with Micron, CWI provides education and skills training to prepare students for careers in advanced semiconductor manufacturing and other high-demand fields supporting the industry.
From hands-on technical careers to engineering opportunities, attendees can explore pathways in:
- Advanced Mechatronics Engineering Technology
- Semiconductor Manufacturing Technology
- HVAC
- Plumbing
- Electrical
- Welding and Metals Fabrication
- Engineering

During Micron Day, attendees will have the opportunity to:
- Learn about high-tech careers in the semiconductor industry and the many skilled trades and technical professions that support a state-of-the-art fabrication plant.
- Hear from a keynote speaker during tech-talk.
- Bring your resume and network directly with Micron hiring managers and other high-tech employers to learn what they are looking for in today's workforce.
- Tour CWI's labs and learning spaces at the Micron Education Center and test out a cleanroom suit.
- Enter to win a $1,000 scholarship to help put a high-tech career within reach.
Micron Day is open to people at different stages of exploring a career, from high school and college students considering their options to experienced professionals looking for a new direction.
