Join College of Western Idaho's (CWI) Visiting Artist Series in welcoming Boise-based photographer and digital collage artist Emma Hood to campus Nov. 12 – 13 for an artist lecture and hands-on workshop.
Hood creates photography and digital collages exploring how our inner and outer worlds change together. She began working with digital photo manipulation in high school and now photographs both standalone compositions and visual elements that become part of her layered collages.
Hood was named a 2026 Top 200 finalist in Photolucida's Critical Mass international portfolio review and was an inaugural Show and Tell resident at The Common Well Studios, supported by the Alexa Rose Foundation. She is represented by Idaho Art Gallery in Boise and Meridian, Idaho, and Pivot Gallery in Rosseau, Ontario. Her limited-edition fine art prints have been exhibited internationally and are held in private and public collections.
Join Hood for a lecture highlighting her artistic practice and experience as a professional photographer.
Artist Lecture
Thursday, Nov. 12
6:30 – 7:30 p.m.
Nampa Campus Academic Building (NCAB), Room 106
In addition to her lecture, Hood will lead Digital and Physical Collage Explorations, a hands-on workshop exploring the differences between creating collages digitally and with physical materials.
Participants will begin with a Photoshop demonstration and guided practice, experimenting with layers of texture, shape, and color before creating their own digital collages. Following a lunch break, participants will move to a studio space to cut, layer, and assemble physical collages based on their digital compositions.
By the end of the workshop, participants will have created both a digital and physical collage and learned techniques they can use in future projects. No Photoshop experience is required.
