Classroom Support
The Writing Center welcomes collaboration as we work together to support your students’ needs. Contact us to schedule a chat for exploring various options.
Classroom Visits
A Writing Center representative can attend your class to introduce students to our services. We can also address specific questions or interests involving writing and AI literacy.
FLEX support
Design an activity with the Writing Center that engages students in working with our consultants. Ideas include:
- Consultants attend an in-class writing workshop day to assist students with writing composition.
- Assign required draft submissions to ACES, the Writing Center's Asynchronous Consultation Email Service.
- Strategize support for a target project or module.
- ... and more!
Assignment Checks
If you are curious as to how students may respond to a particular assignment, our consultants can help you fine-tune and check the assignment draft for clarity. As experts in reading and responding to college assignments, our consultants are happy to provide feedback that supports your success with an assignment's outcomes.
Required Visits
We ask that you do not require your students to visit the Writing Center unless it has been designed through flex support. Instead, consider offering extra credit as an incentive. Our team is happy to work with you to make special arrangements or accommodations as needed.
AI Literacy Center – Coming Soon!
The AI Literacy Center will stand as a clear access point where staff and faculty can join the conversations on AI, learn about CWI’s AI activities and advancements, and develop ideas for innovations in their area. At its core, the AI Literacy Center maintains pipelines with the Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) and the College's AI Committee to ensure staff and faculty have access to updates, resources, offerings, and the valuable sense of community that makes and motivates an AI-literate mindset.
The Center will provide a curated learning experience for faculty and staff alike to explore opportunities for working with AI in their respective areas. In the Center, we are here for staff and faculty to talk, understand, and try:
-
To talk: This is the place to find the conversations that welcome collaboration, give space to address challenges, inspire, and relate. All will have access to upcoming events for discussing AI and guidance on where to find the discussions, workshops, webinars and more that speak to their questions.
-
To understand: It is important to know how to explore AI safely; this technology evolves rapidly and can make it challenging to understand what is considered safe and ethical usage. The Center provides a resource hub for the policies made to keep CWI's environment a secure one.
-
To try: The Center is a go-to source for building the roadmap that gets people started. With each community member's unique role, interests, and ideas, it is critical to have the Center’s support for customized curation: who to connect with, what resources and opportunities are available, and how to take the key first step.
