Sharol was born and raised in Wisconsin and moved to California when she married her husband. She raised three children on the central coast of California and enjoyed a successful early childhood career. She recently moved to Idaho to be closer to family and grandchildren.
Sharol began her community college teaching as an adjunct faculty at Allan Hancock College teaching one to three courses per semester, while also working in the Early Childhood field with Head Start and the County of Santa Barbara, First 5 Children and Families Commission. Sharol has taught a variety of courses including child development, observation and assessment, health and safety, curriculum and leadership. She is passionate about ensuring that the early care and education workforce is well prepared to care for, nurture and educate young children.
Sharol graduated from Concordia Milwaukee with an AA degree in general education and a medical assistance certificate and Allan Hancock College with an AA degree in Early Childhood Studies. She earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Education and a Master’s Degree in Education with an emphasis in Early Childhood Studies from Concordia University in St. Paul, Minnesota.
Sharol’s other professional experience includes the development of the Quality Rating and Improvement System for Santa Barbara County, the NAEYC and NAFCC Accreditation Facilitation Project, Early Childhood facility development, the Dual Language Learning Project and Early Care and Education grant writing and monitoring.
When not teaching, Sharol enjoys spending time with her husband, children and grandchildren. She enjoys baking, attending grandchildren’s sporting events, amusement parks and hopes to spend more time traveling.
