CWI Offices Closed Monday
All College of Western Idaho (CWI) offices will be closed on Monday, Jan. 20, in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. The College will resume regular operating hours on Tuesday (Jan. 21) with the start of the Spring semester.
CWI Professional Technical Education Sponsors Business Spotlight
In partnership with Cumulus Media, College of Western Idaho (CWI) Professional Technical Education is launching a promotion to highlight businesses that are positively impacting the Treasure Valley economy. Job creation has a positive and powerful economic impact on the community. CWI is proud to recognize these businesses through this new promotion; Putting the Treasure Valley to Work. The initiative will spotlight a different business each week across all Cumulus Boise Radio Stations, with focus on the business’ growth and expansion. Business nominations may be submitted through any one of the five participating radio station websites: KBOI, KTIK, KQFC, KIZN, and KKGL.
On Friday (Jan. 17) CWI’s Dean of Professional Technical Education, Will Fanning, participated in an on-air interview with KBOI radio to help kickoff the initiative.
CWI Scheduling Software Now Available to Full-Time Employees
On Monday (Jan. 13) the College of Western Idaho (CWI) event team announced the College’s online scheduling software, 25Live, is now available for use by full-time faculty and staff. The expanded access allows space to be requested for meetings, events, or other activities occurring on campus or at a CWI community location directly in 25Live, which is the master scheduling system for the College. Please remember that any event or reservation of space hosted by CWI, on or off campus, needs to be submitted to the Scheduling Office through this system.
To access 25Live, view “Important Links” on myCWI or visit https://25live.collegenet.com/cwidaho/. CWI login credentials should be used to submit requests. For an optimum user experience, access 25Live in Firefox or Google Chrome. Online training is currently being created. In the meantime, please contact Scheduling at scheduling@cwi.edu with any questions.
CWI Preschool Openings Filling Fast
The College of Western Idaho (CWI) Preschool, located in the Nampa Campus Multipurpose Building, has openings for the Spring semester but space is limited and filling fast. Children must be three years of age by Sept. 1, 2013. There are openings in both the Monday/Wednesday session and Tuesday/Thursday session. Sessions run from 9:30-11:45 a.m. Preschool starts the week of Feb. 3, 2014. Tuition is $225 for the semester and payable in three installments.

Ada County Center Conference Room Unavailable
Due to upcoming construction projects planned for the College of Western Idaho (CWI) Ada County Center, the building’s conference room (ADAC 1113) is unavailable for use. Groups that previously scheduled the room through the first week of February have been notified of this change. Upon completion of the updates the new conference room will be ADAC 1118. In the meantime, please email scheduling@cwi.edu for alternate meeting locations. Please note Ada County Center does not currently have video conferencing capabilities.
Safety Observance Calendar Posted to myCWI
The College of Western Idaho (CWI) Risk Management Department has provided a Safety Observance Calendar for 2014 to help provide CWI employees information on safety initiatives throughout the year. The calendar can be found on myCWI under College Resources > Risk Management. The CWI Safety Committee begins each monthly meeting with a current safety topic from this calendar. Topics from the calendar include: National Radon Action Month, American Heart Disease Awareness Month, National Sleep Awareness Week, National Safe Boating Week, World Health Day, and more.
Payroll Office Provides Tax Updates
The College of Western Idaho (CWI) Payroll Office is busy preparing tax information following the New Year and has provided some need-to-know details for employees to review. The information below can also be found on myCWI under announcements. Employees can email questions to the Payroll Office at payroll@cwi.edu.
- The 2014 tax table is in effect for Jan. 10, 2014 paychecks.
- W-2’s will be available on Jan. 31.
- Employees are reminded to please consent to view and print W-2’s electronically on myCWI. This can be done from My Toolkit/Employee Profile/W-2 Electronic Consent.
- Visit myCWI for more information and to keep updated on the availability of W-2s, including if they become available before Jan. 31.

Staff Senate Meetings Moving to Thursdays
Beginning in February, College of Western Idaho (CWI) Staff Senate meetings will be held on the second Thursday of every month. Meetings will still run from 8:30 to 10:00 a.m. These meetings provide an opportunity for staff to share opinions, ideas, and concerns.
The schedule for Staff Senate meetings this spring is:

- Feb. 13, Nampa Campus Micron Center for Professional Technical Education RM1117
- March 13, CWI Eagle River RM204
- April 10, Nampa Campus Administration Building RM202

Employees can also leave anonymous submissions in the new suggestion boxes located in each of the locations listed above, as well as Canyon County Center.
Nominations for Faculty Recognition
The College of Western Idaho (CWI) Faculty Recognition committee is accepting nominations for Faculty of Distinction. Faculty, staff, students, and administrators, are encouraged to nominate a faculty member that they feel is doing an outstanding job. Please submit nominations by emailing yourock@cwi.edu. Be sure to include the faculty member's first and last name, department in which they work, and the reason for the nomination.

thriveidaho Providing Rewards for Healthy Living
The new state of Idaho employee health promotion, thriveidaho, is in full-swing and College of Western Idaho (CWI) employees covered under the College’s Blue Cross group plan are eligible to participate. The wellness initiative aims to reward individuals for taking charge of their health. For information on thriveidaho, including steps to join, tutorials, frequently asked questions, and more, visit thrive.idaho.gov.
