Congratulations to Sitlaly Escamilla, College of Western Idaho’s (CWI) Staff of the Month for September 2019. Escamilla started at the College as a One Stop Representative in 2017 transitioning into her current role as a Latinx Student Services Coordinator in September 2019. Sharing her experience as a first-generation Latinx student has helped others develop a thorough understanding of CWI processes and resources available to successfully obtain a degree.
Escamilla graduated from University of Idaho in 2016 with a Bachelor of Science in Marketing and minors in Accounting and French. Prior to her decision to pursue a degree, she explored the option of attending a fashion design school so she could create a clothing line for New York Fashion Week.
Known for her honesty, respect, and kindness, Escamilla sets high standards for herself. She is quick to help others and cares deeply for the individuals she serves.
“Sitlaly has shown time and time again she will help a student from the start of their issue and to whatever is necessary to see it through to the end,” a coworker noted. “She is honorable in every endeavor.”
Outside of work, Escamilla enjoys spending time with her family, laughing with her sisters, learning new languages, singing along to her favorite songs, and reading the next big thriller.
