Rick Del Vecchio, an Assistant Professor in the Computer Science and Information Technology department at the College of Western Idaho (CWI), has been named Faculty of Distinction for November 2024. Del Vecchio’s career at CWI spans nearly a decade, beginning as an adjunct and evolving into a full-time faculty role, reflecting his deep commitment to education and student success.

Del Vecchio teaches a range of software development courses, including Intermediate Web App Development, Client Side Frameworks, Systems Analysis and Design, and Game Development. His approach to education is driven by a passion for the subjects he teaches and a dedication to sharing that knowledge with students. He describes his teaching philosophy as stemming from the joy of helping others learn, especially when they experience those transformative “light bulb moments.”

Beyond his formal teaching duties, Del Vecchio plays a crucial role in student life at CWI. He is deeply involved in the Gaming Club and serves as the Head Coach for the Esports team.
