College of Western Idaho (CWI) is inviting you to an Open House, on Saturday, March 16, from 9-11 a.m., to learn more about your career opportunities in Public Safety. Industry representatives, instructors, and advisors will be on site to answer questions and help you learn about a future in this great industry.
Attending this event will expose you to careers that utilize education in:
In addition, programs will have simulators and hands-on activities for you to have firsthand experiences.
Criminal Justice – Expand your understanding of legal studies, sociology, political science, psychology, and the complex issues surrounding arrest and search and seizure. You will be prepared for careers in local, state, and federal law enforcement, court administration, victim services, and corrections.
Law Enforcement – Your career in Law Enforcement starts with this Idaho Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Council approved program that prepares you for the certification exam. With instructors from the law enforcement industry, your class instruction, hands-on training, and practicum experience will be based on real-world experience. Areas of focus within the program are Patrol Officer and Detention Officer.
Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) – With an EMT certification and career in the public safety industry, you become an important part of the pre-hospital patient medical care. CWI’s program will prepare you for the National Registry EMT exam that will certify your skills and prepare you for an EMT career or other careers that utilize EMT skills as a key part of day to day activities.
