Please join in congratulating Gary Heller, who was named College of Western Idaho’s (CWI) April Faculty of Distinction.
Heller is an adjunct faculty with CWI Physical and Natural Sciences. He is known as an energetic instructor who works diligently to help students succeed. His enthusiasm inspires students to interact with each other to work on complex problems and he leads his students by example.
Heller has worked to make CWI’s Environmental Science labs more applicable and interesting to students, often times revising the entire lab. His efforts to invite outside speakers and arrange field trips for environmental science and professions in natural resources and agriculture have both increased community engagement and improved the overall student experience.
He has recently been an active participant and promoter of the special environmental education film series. Not only did Heller rally his students to attend and learn about import and environmental and conservation issues, he contributed greatly to the post film discussions. He sets a great example for participation and service to CWI, regularly participating in department meetings and attending events put on by other faculty members to show support.
Gary's efforts certainly have enriched the lives of the students at CWI. Thank you Gary and congratulations on this well-deserved honor.
