Michelle Mahoney has been named College of Western Idaho’s (CWI) Faculty of Distinction for July 2018. Mahoney has been with the College since 2010, when she began as an Adjunct Instructor in Communication. Prior to higher education, she worked in the communication field as a television anchor/reporter, a radio morning show reporter, and as a public relations professional.
“This truly is my dream job—a place where I can use my creativity and experience to guide students on their path in media and communication fields,” she said. “I am truly honored to be part of the CWI team. I get to work with amazing people.”
Mahoney is currently in the process of moving the Media Arts program to the Canyon County Center, where the new degree program will have a studio and audio-recording booth.
In addition to helping grow the Media Arts program, Mahoney has been instrumental in forging community partnerships, including with KIVI Channel 6, and oversees the internship program. Additionally, she is the Media Club Co-Advisor and serves on the General Education Subcommittee and the Media Arts Technical Advisory Committee.
In her free time, she loves to travel with her family. She and her husband, Matt, have two children – Finn, 15, and Kate, 13. She also enjoys yoga and listening to audio books on her daily commute.
