Welcome to College of Western Idaho (CWI)!

To ensure a successful start to your journey as a CWI student, be sure to review the steps and information below. Should you have any questions along the way, our team is here to help. 

Contact One Stop Student Services

  • 1. Sign In to Your Student Account

    Congratulations on being admitted to CWI!

    First things first — setting up your student account. 

    • Visit Logon Help to Enroll your student account.
    • Sign in using the username provided in your official acceptance letter. 
      • The temporary password is your first initial capitalized + last initial capitalized + 'logon' the last four digits of your social security number (e.g., FLlogon1234). 
      • Follow the prompts to set up security questions and reset your password.

    Once enrolled, you will be able to access myCWI and your student email account.

  • 2. Verify Academic Skill Level

    To ensure you are placed in the correct math and English classes, CWI uses placement exams to verify your academic skill level.

    Accepted placement exams:

    • ACT*
    • SAT*
    • Advanced Placement (AP) math and English classes completed in high school
    • College Level Examination Program (CLEP)
    • CWI Write Class (English) Placement*
    • CWI Math Placement*
    • Math or English classes taken at other colleges or universities

    *Placement scores must be within three years of the first day you intend to begin classes. College credit placement has no age limit.

  • 3. Complete New Student Orientation

    The next step in your journey starts with completing New Student Orientation. Orientation will provide you with an opportunity to learn more about the College, discover available resources, and prepare to register for classes.

  • 4. Review Important Dates

    View the Academic Calendar for important dates and deadlines specific to each semester.

  • 5. Apply for Scholarships

    CWI's scholarship application provides students with automatically-generated scholarship matches, including over 10,000 external scholarship opportunities, allowing you to self-select scholarships of interest.

  • 6. Register for Classes

    Contact your advisor for help with registration, degree planning, and making the most of your time at CWI. 

  • 7. Pay Tuition and Fees

    Verify Financial Aid (if applicable)

    If you have or plan to apply for federal financial aid:

    • Find a financial aid checklist on myCWI underToolkitFinancial Aid.
    • Visit Financial Aid for more information. 

    Payment Options

    • Balances not covered by federal financial aid or other funding need to be paid in full or have a Payment Plan in place by the Tuition and Fees deadline listed in the Academic Calendar.
  • 8. Prepare for Class

    Student ID Card

    • To obtain your student ID card, bring a state- or government-issued ID to any One Stop Student Services location.
      • Your student ID card can be used for services such as the Library, Math Solution Center, and access to free bus service through Valley Ride.

    Textbooks

    • Once you are registered for classes, find information about the textbooks you will need in Student Planning or by visiting the CWI Bookstore in-person or online.

    • Approximately one week prior to the start of each semester, you can charge your books against your accepted financial aid award.

    Blackboard

    • Student access to a current semester course begins the first day of the course session at 12:01 a.m.
    • Visit the myCommons section (under My Organizations) for information on student resources, support services, and events.
      • Earn badges through mini, online courses created to help you prepare for classes and begin using technology, such as accessing your student email.

    • Be sure to check your email often so you don't miss any important communication from the College, your instructors, or classmates.

  • 9. Connect with your Advisor

    First-Semester Required Advising*

    Students seeking a degree or certificate are required to meet with their assigned advisor within their first semester to:

    • create an academic plan,
    • understand academic expectations, 
    • review degree requirements, 
    • and discover ways to meet your education and career goals.

    Once your academic plan is established, it may be accessed in Student Planning on myCWI at any time allowing you to select classes in line with your goals. 

    *Fulfilling this advising requirement during your first semester at CWI will allow you to register for classes in future semesters.

  • 10. Understand Student Conduct

    As a student, you are responsible for knowing the policies and conduct expected of you.
