  • About the Math Solutions Center

The Math Solutions Center (MSC) offers instructional support options for students who need to fulfill a math prerequisite for a subsequent course.  Courses offered through the MSC include:

    • Introductory Prep Math (MATH 097)
    • Advanced Prep Math (MATH 098)
    • Expanded Prep Math (MATH 099)

Criteria for placement in these and all other CWI math courses can be found on the Placement Testing page. Students should meet with a Student Success Advisor to determine the math course pathway that best meets the needs of their degree plans.

Students enrolled in MATH 097, MATH 098, and MATH 099 are not required to purchase a textbook and will be provided the information needed to log into the course software on the first day of class each semester. To support the direct classroom instruction provided in each of these courses, student have access to a multitude of instructional resources through the web-based course software, which is covered by an IncludED Math Course Fee automatically added to the tuition cost. These resources include interactive preparation material at the beginning of each topic, video lectures on each concept, PowerPoint presentations on every section in the text, and animated explanations for many examples in the text. In addition to their selected course and section times, students enrolled in both on-campus and online sections of MATH 097, MATH 098, and MATH 099 have access to math faculty at both the Nampa and Ada Campus MSC locations during specified drop-in times. Students enrolled in online sections of MATH 097, MATH 098, and MATH 099 can also receive virtual support from math faculty during specified times through Blackboard Collaborate.

The Math Solutions Center (MSC) also offers no-cost math diagnostic review and remediation options through the Accelerated Math Placement (AMP) program. Questions about the AMP program can be directed to

  • Have you previously been enrolled in MATH 095?

Students who were previously enrolled in MATH 095, and have not yet completed the math course(s) needed for your degree requirements should meet with a math coach to determine your best pathway toward completing your college-level math courses.  Make an appointment with a CWI Math Coach.

While MATH 095 provided some flexibility with regard to a student's individual pacing, the new courses of MATH 097, MATH 098, and MATH 099 will offer instructor-led sections, and are designed to prepare you for your transfer-level math course in a single semester.  Students must be prepared to follow the course schedule as designed in order to be successful in the course.
