Article IX: Elections & Appointments
Section 1: Elections Requirements
IX.1.00 Anything regarding elections must follow all of the guidelines set forth in the candidate packet and the voter's guide.
IX.1.01 It shall be the responsibility of ASCWI government candidates, their supporters, and all others involved in ASCWI elections to be informed of and to follow these policies and procedures.
Section 2: Elections
IX.2.00 Any member of ASCWI may become a candidate for office after having fulfilled the officer eligibility requirements as stated in this Constitution and the ASCWI Bylaws.
IX.2.01 The following positions shall be elected in a general election to be held and concluded during the spring semester.
IX.2.01.01 President
IX.2.01.02 Vice president of student life
IX.2.01.03 Vice president of student resources
IX.2.01.04 Vice president of records and finance
IX.2.02 Advisory Council members and committee members shall be appointed through an application and interview process coordinated by the president, the vice president responsible for the applicable area, and confirmed by the Executive Council.
IX.2.03 If one or more elected Executive Council positions remain unfilled following a regular election, whether due to a lack of candidates, an unsuccessful election, or any other circumstance, the dean of students or designee may initiate an application and interview process to the fill the position(s).
IX.2.04 Executive officers elected during the regular election shall assume authority upon certification of the election results.
IX.2.05 Election processes and results shall be overseen and certified by the ASCWI advisor and confirmed by the ASCWI Executive Council within two (2) calendar weeks of the election.
IX.2.06 Election protests must be submitted in writing to the ASCWI advisor, the dean of students, and the ASCWI general inbox (ascwi@cwi.edu) within 24
hours of the close of voting.
IX.2.06.01 Election protests shall include sufficient information and evidence to warrant an official review.
IX.2.06.02 Election protests shall be reviewed and resolved in accordance with procedures established by ASCWI and Student Affairs.
IX.2.06.03 Decisions regarding election protests shall be final unless substantial new evidence is presented.
IX.2.07 Upon announcement of election results, the prevailing candidates shall become non-voting members of ASCWI and begin transitioning into their role with ASCWI.
