Article IV: Advisory Council & Committee Structure

Section 1: Committee Structure & Reporting

IV.1.00 ASCWI shall operate through the following standing functional committees divided into two administrative branches. Each committee shall include appointed student members to serve as primary mechanism for student involvement and leadership development.

IV.1.01 Student Life Branch
The following committees shall report directly to the Vice President of Student Life:

IV.1.01.01 Events & Programming: Responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing campus-wide events, student activities, and programs.

IV.1.01.02 Student Services: Responsible for identifying gaps in student support services, advocating for student needs and expansion of campus resources.

IV.1.01.03 Online Engagement & Outreach: Responsible for connecting with, supporting, and conducting outreach to online students as well as managing digital marketing and social media communication.

IV.1.02 Student Resources Branch
The following committees shall report directly to the Vice President of Student Resources:

IV.1.02.01 Club Recognition & Support: Responsible for overseeing all aspects of student club recognition and financial support.

IV.1.02.02 Community Service & Civic Engagement: Responsible for connecting students to relevant political and social change information across federal, state, and local governments through organized service projects, volunteer opportunities and civic awareness initiatives.

IV.1.03 Leadership and Management
Each functional area shall be led by a Council Member appointed by the president and confirmed by the Executive Council. Each council member shall:

IV.1.03.01 Chair their respective committee and report to directly to their assigned vice president.

IV.1.03.02 Delegate a co-chair from their respective committee membership.

IV.1.03.03 Develop and support goals and initiatives aligned with ASCWI priorities.

IV.1.03.04 Assess and Manage assigned budgets in coordination with the vice president of records and finance.

IV.1.03.05 Report regularly to the General Council.

Section 2: General Duties of the Advisory Council

The ASCWI Advisory Council, acting collectively shall:

IV.2.00.01 Read and adhere to the ASCWI Constitution, Bylaws other legislation.

IV.2.00.02 Identify, communicate, and advocate for the needs, concerns, and interests of the students they represent.

IV.2.00.03 Schedule supplemental Advisory Council meetings with at least 48 hours’ notice to discuss student concerns, develop recommendations,
and prepare proposal for Executive Council consideration.

IV.2.00.04 Perform other duties as assigned by the ASCWI president and the ASCWI advisor(s).

IV.2.00.05 Adopt legislation, bylaws, or regulations necessary for the general welfare for ASCWI.

IV.2.00.06 Provide recommendations and funding requests regarding the allocation of ASCWI funds and budget priorities.

IV.2.00.07 Draft and submit recommendations, legislation, resolutions, and policy proposals to the Executive Council for consideration and action.]

Section 3: Individual Powers & Responsibilities

IV.3.00 Each individual Council Member shall:

IV.3.00.01 Attend all General Council meetings according to the attendance policy outlined in the ASCWI Bylaws.

IV.3.00.02 Attend all assigned board and/or committee meetings.

IV.3.00.03 Review minutes from the previous meeting to ensure accuracy.

IV.3.00.05 Maintain a minimum of two (2) office hours each week and log them in the designated office record.

IV.3.00.06 Attend and participate in activities and other assigned events as required to support the goals and functions of ASCWI.

IV.3.00.07 Give notice of any absences in accordance with the attendance policy outlined in the ASCWI Bylaws.

IV.3.00.08 Be proficient and follow Robert's Rules of Order during all General Council and Committee meetings.

Section 4: General Duties of the Committee Members

IV.4.00 Each individual Committee Member shall:

IV.4.00.01 Actively participate in committee meetings, projects, and initiatives.

IV.4.00.02 Support the committee chair in achieving the goals and objectives of the committee.

IV.4.00.03 Fulfill responsibilities assigned by the committee chair in support of committee operations.

IV.4.00.04 Maintain a minimum of two (2) office hours each week and log them in the designated office record.

IV.4.00.05 Attend and participate in activities and other assigned events as required to support the goals and functions of ASCWI.

IV.4.00.06 Give notice of any absences in accordance with the attendance policy outlined in the ASCWI Bylaws.

IV.4.00.07 Be proficient and follow Robert's Rules of Order during all Committee meetings.
