Chemistry became a passion of mine back in high school. My teacher taught me that the world is a big place but lots of things happen in the small spaces too. By understanding the littlest parts, we can better understand how our world works. That mindset (and a heaping dose of math) lead me to pursue a Chemical Engineering degree at the University of Idaho. In my second year of university, I began tutoring chemistry and algebra to students from all walks of life. My passion to help others learn and grow in science and math took off. I continued tutoring even as I completed a master’s degree in Biological and Agricultural Engineering.
Between my university years and now, I was employed in the paper industry as a chemical engineer and then as a micro lab manager, all while still working as a private tutor on the side. I began substituting at local schools over the last couple years because I really wanted to teach. Although I have taught every age (kindergarten and up!), my truest passion is education at the collegiate level.
As an Idaho native I embrace the outdoors when I have the chance, read a great book when the weather is cranky, tend to a summer garden, fish and swim in the local spots and go sledding with the kids in the winter. I look forward to teaching as much as I adore the changing seasons where we live.
