News Highlights
Change to Five Years Service Award Delivery
As previously shared in Bert’s Alerts, due to the shortened winter break for College of Western Idaho (CWI) this academic year, there is no Spring College Address. Faculty In-Service activities were modified to focus on division and departmental needs, which also eliminated non-instructional division presentations during the week. As a result, CWI is changing the distribution process for five-year service awards, which had been presented to faculty and staff at both the Spring and Fall In-Services.
To accommodate this year’s change, awards that would have been presented this month will be distributed at the Fall In-Service so employees will be recognized in a venue where their colleagues come together as a community to honor them and say thank-you.
Tech Talk: Projects Complete and Planning Ahead
The College of Western Idaho (CWI) Information Technology (IT) Department is presenting a series of Bert’s Alerts articles intended to share updates at CWI as well as relevant technology topics.
AceWare to Colleague Migration
CWI Workforce Development, Student Services, Business Office, and Information Technology successfully migrated AceWare student data into the institutional student registration system, Colleague, over the holidays. The migration will provide integrated access to student data and sets the stage for developing a more uniform student experience in the future.
IT Projects for the Year
Did you know that IT has a list of all projects that are planned for this fiscal year? This list is always accessible on myCWI under the Information Technology tab, or by viewing the FY15 Annual Work Plan. For anyone curious about what projects are planned with IT this year, it is a great place to look.
Office365 Upgrade for Employees
In February the servers for faculty and staff email will be upgraded to Office365. All email addresses will remain the same and the Outlook experience will not change for employees. This upgrade does allow the college to utilize Microsoft's highly secure and encrypted cloud based service for email. The migration schedule will be published later this month so employees will know when their email box will be migrated. During the migration all email will operate as normal.
