Scholarship Ignites Career Makeover

Published: September 2, 2020

In partnership with Mix 106 and Moug & Angie Mornings, College of Western Idaho (CWI) awarded Payton Imbach as winner of this year’s Career Makeover on-air scholarship promotion.

After serving in the Marine Corps Reserves straight out of high school, Imbach attended Oregon State University for a short time but never finished his degree. He is currently working as a delivery driver for Lowe’s Home Improvement in Meridian, Idaho.

“My fiancé and I heard the promotion on the radio and discussed the fact we are both close to completing our associate degrees, and now would be as good a time as any to go back to school,” Imbach recalled. “I was overwhelmed with emotions when I heard I won the contest! I received the news after coming home from a camping trip where we got engaged – it was a weekend full of good news!”

In addition to a scholarship, Imbach will receive personalized assistance and guidance tailored to his career goals as he begins his educational journey at CWI in the Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) and Fire Service programs.

“I’m excited to get back into school and work toward a career with a local fire department. I really like helping people and knowing my work is making a difference. Thank you for this opportunity!”
