More than 30 College of Western Idaho (CWI) Professional Nursing students and faculty greeted KeyBank representatives, along with Laura Mulkey, CWI Foundation Director, and Ed Barrett, CWI Foundation Board President, at the Canyon County Campus on Friday, Feb. 8. KeyBank presented a check for $10,000 to the Foundation in support of the College’s Nursing program through scholarship opportunities.
“Through this grant, our hope is CWI can continue producing skilled nurses, ensuring top skills and job training,” said Laura Suter, KeyBank Communications Manager. “KeyBank is proud to support these important programs to help close the nursing shortage currently facing Idaho. We place a special emphasis on financial wellness and helping our communities thrive, and this starts with securing and keeping meaningful employment.”
The $1,000, fall semester scholarship is available for students enrolled in the Professional Nursing or Practical Nursing programs who demonstrate financial need.
“We are so appreciative to KeyBank,” said Nursing Department Chair, Allison Baker. “Scholarships make it possible for many to achieve their educational goals when it may not would have been feasible.”
The College of Western Idaho (CWI) Foundation scholarships application period is now open for the 2019-20 academic year. The application closes March 31, 2019. Visit the Grants and Scholarships page to learn more or apply.
