The numbers are in for the first Voter Registration Day event hosted at College of Western Idaho (CWI) that helped students, employees, and community members prepare to vote in the Nov. 8 election. CWI’s honor society chapter, Beta Sigma Pi, organized the event on Sept. 27 at four campus locations in support of National Voter Registration Day. Their efforts resulted in 200 voter registrations and absentee ballots being delivered to county election offices. Organizers say they also handed out hundreds of registration cards for people to submit on their own.
In addition to voter registration and absentee ballots, the event provided:
- Information on CWI’s November 2016 Ballot items
- Polling Locations
- List of Statewide Candidates
- Voting Precinct Information
The student group was pleased with the turnout to their first event and felt the initiative was well received.
