CWI Saves Big with Idaho Power

Published: September 22, 2017

College of Western Idaho (CWI), led by Facilities Planning and Management, has collaborated with Idaho Power for years through the Commercial and Industrial Energy Efficiency Program. The initiative encourages commercial operators like the College to upgrade, or build with energy efficient technology through various incentives that offset the project cost. CWI has received more than $151,000 in incentives for HVAC and lighting upgrades.

The incentives received are in addition to any utility cost savings realized over time with the use of such technology.  In 2016, the College received $2,100 for upgrading to LED lighting in the NCAB common area with sensors to monitor natural light and adjust light levels accordingly. This year, more than $19,000 was received in Idaho Power incentives and expect an annual savings of roughly $6,000 associated with upgrades to the Nampa Campus Academic Building lab exhaust system.

The College seeks and maintains various partnerships throughout the valley as they are valuable to both parties and the community at large. For more information, please review the attached brochure, Saving Energy Makes Good Business Sense.
