College of Western Idaho student clubs “Pigged Out on Family Fun” at the Canyon County Fair this past Saturday, July 26. The Art Club started the afternoon by admiring the art on display and judging the craft submissions. Before the heat of the day set in, the 4-H members and their animals competed for best in show; the Street Team showed up at the right time with CWI fans to cool them off while they waited for results.
The Community Stage, sponsored by CWI, remained packed with fair-goers as they were amazed by magician, Jeff Evans, entertained by Alex Zerbe the Zaniac and intrigued by the variety of reptiles. Sarah Houston, from the Art Club, had the opportunity to meet the Zaniac between shows; I think Sarah will agree with Sharon Osbourne from America’s Got Talent, “The Zaniac is too wild for me.”
CWI could be found everywhere at the fair this year, from the Community Stage to the CWI booth and every fan in between. The Culinary Arts Club had a big job as the gates swelled with the community and flooded the fairgrounds with guests from around the Treasure Valley eager for the Josh Turner concert, fair food, and carnival rides. The team hit the lines of people and encouraged everyone to consider college and even offered a free application fee coupon. Many potential and current students were found in the crowd that night; some ready for school and others asking great questions for the Street Team.
