Idaho Standards for EMTs Kept Up to Date by CWI Staff

Published: February 23, 2024

Technical skill standards tests play a critical role in ensuring workers, from electricians to surgeons, maintain proficiency. Regulatory agencies from the municipal to federal level utilize these exams before issuing professional licenses, but who is responsible for establishing skill standards and keeping them current?

Shayne Cluck, Workforce Development’s Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Program Coordinator at College of Western Idaho (CWI) attended the EMT Standards and Technical Skills Assessment revalidation team event sponsored by the Idaho Division of Career and Technical Education (IDCTE).

"I would like to personally thank you for your service.” said Stephanie Mai, Program Quality Manager, Health Professions and Public Safety with IDCTE. “Your contributions and enthusiasm will assist us in aligning and improving secondary and postsecondary career technical programs education in Idaho.”

Shayne supported the IDCTE and various state partners in reviewing and updating the technical skills standards and testing requirements for the EMT curriculum. His dedicated support of this work will assist in improving career technical education programs throughout the state.

“This process would not have been a success without the help of you and the other instructors who contributed their time and expertise," Mai said.

Shayne, as well as other experts at CWI, regularly share their experience and ultimately improve our community.
