College of Western Idaho (CWI) wrapped up another successful season of CWI Nights with the Idaho Steelheads, bringing together students, employees, and community members at Idaho Central Credit Union (ICCU) Arena in support of both local hockey and student success.
Across five games — Oct. 29, Dec. 3, Feb. 4, Feb. 25, and March 25 — CWI Nights steadily built momentum. Attendance peaked in February, and overall participation averaged 190 tickets per game, with 950 total group tickets sold.
Beyond attendance, each event created opportunities for connection and learning. Throughout the season, CWI teams engaged with fans, shared information about programs, highlighted career pathways across the College, and awarded a $1,000 scholarship each CWI night.
English student, Skye Vehrs, was selected as the evening’s SCORE Big Scholarship recipient, adding another celebratory moment to the night.
Funded through a partnership with the Idaho Steelheads and supported by the CWI community these scholarships help students stay focused on their education and career goals. Throughout the season, $5 from each CWI Night ticket supported scholarships, helping raise a total of $4,750.
ICCU made every power-play goal mean something beyond the scoreboard. Each goal was also added to the SCORE Big Scholarship fund, totaling $3,744 for CWI students by the final buzzer at the end of the season.
Thank you to everyone who joined CWI throughout the season to support student opportunities while cheering on the Steelheads. Together, these game nights continue to create meaningful experiences for employees, fans ,and lasting impact for students.
Next up, CWI Nights head to the ballpark on Tuesday, June 9, as the Boise Hawks take on the Idaho Falls Chukars at Memorial Stadium.
Hit it out of the park with fellow students, alumni, employees, and supporters of the CWI community for another evening of fun and impact – and enter a chance to win the night’s $1,000 SCORE Big Scholarship!
