College of Western Idaho (CWI) hit a home run at CWI Night at the Boise Hawks on June 9, bringing together students, alumni, employees, family members, and friends for an evening of baseball, school spirit, and student support.
The event celebrated community, raised funds for student scholarships, and featured plenty of excitement on and off the field.
Members of the CWI community gathered along the third-base line at Memorial Stadium to cheer on the Boise Hawks as they defeated the Idaho Falls Chukars 10-5. Through the partnership with the Boise Hawks, 65 tickets were sold in the CWI section, generating hundreds of dollars for the SCORE Big Scholarship fund and supporting future student success.
The evening began with CWI Foundation Board President Mike Peña throwing out a ceremonial first pitch before the game.
The College's Recruitment team was also on hand to connect with prospective students and community members, sharing information about CWI and inviting attendees to enter a drawing for a $1,000 SCORE Big Scholarship and a CWI baseball jersey.
The fun continued throughout the evening as the CWI community filled the third-base line section and cheered on the Hawks during their 10-5 victory. Fans also had the chance to take home CWI T-shirts during a special giveaway in the middle of the third inning, adding to the excitement at the ballpark.
That was not the only reason to celebrate as Registered Nursing student, Jacqui Villasenor, was selected as the recipient of the evening's SCORE Big Scholarship. Villasenor was recognized during the game and awarded the scholarship to support her educational journey at CWI.
Thank you to everyone who attended, supported the scholarship fund, and helped make CWI Night at the Hawks another successful event. Stay tuned for future opportunities to join the CWI community at the next CWI Night and support student success.
