Fire Service Students Honor Victims of 9/11

Published: September 18, 2020

Each year, the Nampa Fire Department and the Nampa Police Department come together on Patriot Day to honor the victims and remember those who passed away while serving their community during the tragic events our country experienced on Sept. 11, 2001. For the past two years, the Nampa Fire Department has graciously extended an invitation to College of Western Idaho (CWI) Fire Service students to participate in the ceremony. This year’s ceremony, held at the Nampa Fire Station #1, was attended by local first responders as well as members of the community.

“Experiences of this nature are an important part of our students’ training and education as it exposes them to events that have helped shape and define fire service into what it is today, said CWI Fire Service Technology Director, Darrin Raskopf. “Additionally, it introduces them into the culture and camaraderie of the first-responder community they are training to become a part of.”

We are all very honored and appreciative to have gotten the opportunity to partake in a ceremony that remembers one of the most tragic and solemn events in American history,” said Fire Service student, Alexandra Edwards. “Thank you to the Nampa Fire Department, Nampa Police, and the community for allowing us to be a part of remembering the lives lost and the sacrifices made.”
