College of Western Idaho’s (CWI) summer tour of community events continued this week as CWI partnered with the Boise Hawks to help spread the word about college. CWI took in a game against the Hillsboro Hops, Thursday (July 10) night, which provided great exposure for the College. Outreach staff hosted an information booth while the CWI Street Team mingled with the crowd, handing out CWI gear. The College has a few more community stops scheduled for the summer with outreach planned for the Canyon County Fair (July 26), Nampa Festival of Arts (Aug. 9) and Meridian Speedway (Aug. 16).

CWI Networking Grad Places Second in Nation
College of Western Idaho (CWI) is celebrating the success of alum Carlos Gonzales, who earned a runner-up finish at the 50th-annual national SkillsUSA competition in Kansas City, Mo., June 23-27. Gonzales was one of seven competitors representing CWI at the prestigious event, which hosted over 6,000 students from around the country.
Gonzales, a Boise resident, captured his silver medal in the Internetworking competition. The event featured over 60 competitors between the secondary and post-secondary levels. He earned his trip to nationals following a first-place finish at the SkillsUSA State Leadership Conference in April.
Gonzales is a native of Peru who moved to the United States in 2003 and relocated to Idaho in 2010. He graduated from the Cisco Network and Security Technologies program at CWI in May and is currently employed as a network administrator at Emmett High School.
CWI Hosting Master Plan Open House
A comprehensive master planning effort is near completion as College of Western Idaho (CWI) continues preparing for future growth of CWI's Nampa Campus. This spring, CTA Architects and SRG Partnerships hosted a series of workshops to receive input from employees, students, and the community about updating the campus master plan. The public is invited to view the updates at an open house event:

The open house will be interactive with opportunities to navigate the master plan on computers, as well as engage with CWI administration and the architects. Guests are encouraged to share feedback as CWI continues exploring ways to strengthen partner connections and identify how the College can better serve the community.

The College of Western Idaho (CWI) Locations Brochure has been updated and is available online. A map has also been created to help navigate updates at CWI’s Ada County Campus, including relocation of One Stop Student Services, Assessment and Testing, and some of CWI’s healthcare programs.
