New to the College of Western Idaho (CWI) for the Fall 2019 semester, are online courses that provide the opportunity for students to meet the educational component of the Child Development Associate (CDA) credential. The online courses are a national credential from the Council for Professional Recognition. CDA credentials, the most widely recognized in early childhood education, indicate a provider has demonstrated the ability to meet specific needs of children and work with parents and other adults to promote quality child care and education.
CWI’s online courses meet the requirements for the preschool, infant/toddler, and family child care CDA credential. The courses will give current students who are working full-time in the field of early childhood education the opportunity to continue their education. Upon completion, they can then choose to continue on to earn an Associate of Applied Science in Early Childhood Education.
Online courses include:
- ECED 100 – Foundations of Early Childhood Education, 3 credits
- ECED 101 – Child Development and Guidance, 3 credits
- ECED 105 – Teaching Young Children I, 4 credits
