Anticipated Graduation:  May 2018

Because of CWI: “I am now a nurse!”

After moving from Pennsylvania to be closer to his wife’s family, Max F. found a job helping disabled adults as a home care worker. This experience inspired him to pursue a career in nursing at College of Western Idaho (CWI).

Max found his time in the Nursing program at CWI rewarding and enjoyed the collaborations he had with instructors.

“Many great instructors have contributed to my positive experience at CWI, but Allison Baker, the Nursing Department Chair, has been integral in coordinating so many parts of the program. For someone with 80 plus students, instructors, and multiple facilities to keep track of, it's incredible that she still manages to respond to texts and emails within a few minutes.”

Max stayed busy juggling classes and completing an internship at the Boise Veterans Affairs Medical Center on the medical-surgical floor. He excelled in the job and he was offered a full-time position at the facility.

“Veterans are a rewarding population to work with,” he said.

Following graduation, he plans on learning as much as possible in his first nursing job, and pursuing a bachelor’s degree!
