McKinnis Selected Staff of the Month

Published: July 18, 2014

Congratulations to July’s Staff of the Month Jeff McKinnis! Jeff has been with CWI four and a half years, starting as a One Stop Specialist and to his current position as an Advisor in Financial Aid. All of those that have had the opportunity to get to know Jeff can attest to his level of commitment to getting the work done, especially when it will impact a student. Jeff’s approachable demeanor makes him easy to talk to and a pleasure to work with.

Jeff has a Bachelor’s degree in University Studies with an emphasis in Russian, Hebrew, Linguistics, and Art History from Brigham Young University. Upon completion of his studies at BYU, the economy suffered a down turn, leading Jeff on a journey through varying occupations to keep bread on the table for his young family. Jeff experienced challenging times in the gold mining industry that tested him, before he found his way to a lengthy career in the computer business with IBM and HP.

Jeff enjoys the occasional road trip with his wife, walking their Jack Russell and dachshund dogs, and working in the garden. They also appreciate sitting on the couch watching Masterpiece Theater or reading scriptures together.  His wife's therapy is spending time doing family history research and his is an old 4.5 by 9 foot Brunswick pool table in the garage. They take joy in spending time with their children. Jeff enjoys playing golf with his son the few times each year they are together, (his son’s family lives in North Carolina). He also relishes thrift shopping, golfing, and going to the shooting range with his daughter.

Thank you Jeff for your commitment and continued dedication to our students!
