College of Western Idaho (CWI) marked a new milestone in its Boise expansion with a topping off ceremony for the Boise Micron Academic Center, celebrating the placement of the building’s final structural beam.
Faculty, staff, and community members gathered to watch the beam lifted into place, signaling completion of the structure’s framework and the transition into the next phase of construction. The moment reflects the College’s efforts to expand access to affordable education while creating more opportunities for students to engage with industry partners and the community.
The Micron Academic Center will house programs, such as CWI’s Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Business, and more, in modern labs and learning spaces designed to mirror real-world environments. The facility will help students build practical skills aligned with industry needs.
Construction remains on schedule, with the Micron Academic Center expected to open in Fall 2027.
The building is part of a larger development that includes retail, housing, hotel, and a parking garage. For CWI’s facility, the College has partnered with Ahlquist, Hummel Architects, Paradigm, and ESI Construction on the design and development of the project.
