400: Attendance
401: Absences
401.01 Two (2) excused and one (1) unexcused absences per semester from required meetings shall constitute ground for dismissal.
401.02 An exception to the attendance requirements may be granted for documented academic circumstances and shall be limited to one (1) semester. Approval of such exception shall be determined by the ASCWI Advisor.
401.02.01 Advisor shall report exception determination to Executive Council and assigned delegate.
401.03 Intervention Meeting: Within five (5) business days of an officer reaching the absence limit outlined in 401.01, the ASCWI president and ASCWI vice president of records and finance shall notify the officer and schedule a mandatory intervention to review the attendance concern and discuss corrective action.
401.04 Non-Compliance: Failure to respond to the notification, attend the scheduled intervention meeting, or comply with any attendance expectations established during the intervention process may result in immediate dismissal from office.
401.05 Appeal: An officer dismissed due to attendance violations may submit one (1) written appeal within five (5) business days of receiving notification of dismissal. The appeal shall be reviewed by the dean of students or their delegate.
401.02 General Council and Committee Meeting Absences:
401.02.01 The vice president of records and finance shall maintain official attendance records and determine excused or unexcused absence classifications based on submitted documentation and the standards established in these bylaws.
401.02.02 Whenever possible, members shall provide notice of an anticipated absence prior to the meeting.
401.02.03 If advance notice is not possible, documentation requesting an excused absence must be submitted within 48 hours following the missed meeting. Requests submitted after 48 hours may be classified as unexcused.
401.02.04 General Council members shall report General Council meeting absences to the vice president of records and finance at least 24 hours prior to the meeting whenever possible.
401.02.05 Executive Council members shall report Executive Council meeting absences to the president and vice president of records and finance.
401.02.06 Committee members shall report committee meeting absences to the council member serving as chair at least 24 hours prior to the meeting whenever possible.
401.02.06.01 The council member serving as chair shall maintain attendance records for committee meetings and report committee member absences to the vice president of records and finance. In the absence of the chair, the designated co-chair shall assume this responsibility.
402: Tardiness
402.01 Any member not present when their name is called during roll call shall be recorded as tardy.
402.02 A tardy member may take their seat upon arrival and presiding officer shall recognize tardy member at the beginning of the next agenda item before the member can participate in discussion, debate, and voting.
402.03 A member who is not present by adjournment shall be recorded as absent.
402.04 Repeated tardiness may be converted to an absence for attendance-tracking purposes. Two (2) instances of tardiness within a semester shall equal one (1) unexcused absence.
402.05 The vice president of records and finance shall maintain all attendance and tardy records.
