Discover the power of scholarships to fund your educational journey at College of Western Idaho (CWI)! 

Scholarships are awarded based on diverse criteria such as GPA, program of study, cohort status, first-generation student status, or demonstrated financial need. Best of all, scholarships from CWI, CWI Foundation, State of Idaho, and external sources typically do not require repayment.

Applying for Scholarships

One scholarship application makes applying for scholarships at CWI a breeze!

  • Start here: To access the CWI Scholarship Portal, you must apply to CWI, be accepted, and log in using your CWI login information.
  • Get matched: Answer the questions in the portal to automatically be considered for available scholarships at CWI. 
  • Review regularly: Update your answers throughout the academic year when you experience enrollment or program changes.
  • Show financial need: To get matched with scholarships based on financial need, complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) prior to accessing the portal.
  • Know the details: Being matched to scholarship opportunities does not guarantee a scholarship. Additional eligibility requirements may apply.

CWI Scholarship Portal  

State Scholarships

Idaho LAUNCH is a grant program that provides students with a one-time opportunity to have 80% of the tuition and fees for an in-demand career program. This grant covers up to $8,000 over three years, and students are eligible to have 80% of their tuition and fees covered per semester with a max of $4,000 for the first year. This grant does not cover books, supplies, or other educational expenses. 

Eligibility:

  • Graduate from an Idaho high school or equivalent.
  • Be an Idaho resident.
  • Be enrolled in or have applied to an in-demand career program.
  • Begin enrollment by fall semester after graduation, unless granted an extension.
  • Complete a Career Pathway Plan or equivalent, submitted for approval by each district.
  • Review the approved list of eligible in-demand careers.

Idaho LAUNCH

The Idaho Opportunity Scholarship awards eligible applicants up to $3,500 per academic year. This scholarship requires completion of the FAFSA since the student must demonstrate their financial need. Recipients must renew each year by March 1 and are eligible to receive the scholarship for a maximum of four years.

Eligibility:

  • Have an unweighted, cumulative GPA of at least 2.7.
  • Be an Idaho resident.
  • Graduated or will graduate from an Idaho high school or equivalent.
  • Must attend during the upcoming academic year (fall semester).
  • Must be pursuing a certificate, associate, or first bachelor's degree.
  • Complete the FAFSA by March 1.

Institutional Scholarships

CWI and the CWI Foundation offer many institutional scholarship opportunities to our students. As institutional scholarships, these awards must be used at CWI and cannot be transferred to any other school. Listed below are just a few of the amazing opportunities. CWI is proud to partner with the IDeal Idaho College Savings Program to promote education and increase opportunities for post-secondary success with CWIDeal Boost. CWIDeal Boost offers incentives to students and families saving for college through IDeal, including a matching scholarship opportunity of up to $500 per semester for qualifying CWI students.
