Advising
Navigating your way through college can be confusing, especially if you try to go it alone. CWI offers advising assistance to help in deciding which courses you need to take to reach your education and career goals. Visit Advising or contact One Stop Student Services for more information.
The Wildland Fire Academy is offered each spring. The academy is offered to federal and state wildland fire fighting agencies, contractors and individuals. Classes offered to firefighters include how to be effective and how to survive in the hazardous wildland fire environment. Classes for veteran firefighters and managers include management techniques and protocol for ground support, air support, incident response and command, and forensics.
For a complete course listing and application information please visit the Southwest Idaho Fire Training website. The goal of these programs is to provide a well-balanced training curriculum, coupled with on the job learning experiences, to promote safety, efficiency, interagency cooperation, and professionalism in the fire service community.
Note: Wildland work is physically demanding-you must attend and pass the pack test the week of the Wildland Fire Academy. The Pack test is an endurance test and consists of wearing a 45-pound back pack and walking 3 miles in 45 minutes. You must sign a waiver of liability form to be able to participate in the pack test.
