Michelle Bennett has been teaching at the College of Western Idaho in Communication since 2008 and as a full-time instructor in January 2010. She received her B.A. in Communication and a Master of Arts in Communication from Boise State University. Michelle is completing her PhD from the University of Idaho in Educational Leadership and is currently ABD.
During Bennett’s tenure at CWI she has led the Speech and Debate team to three Pi Kappa Delta national championships. Through her work, PKD honored Bennett with the 2012 Derryberry Forensics Educator award. This is presented to an educator directing forensics for less than five years. At the 2013 PKD National Convention Bennett was also awarded the Rising Star Award. Bennett has received recognition from the Phi Theta Kappa CWI student organization and CWI as Professor of the Year in 2011. Michelle has served on numerous college-wide committees and supports student growth through development of Communication internship opportunities throughout the Treasure Valley.
Bennett is engaged in the community and volunteers as the Chair of the Canyon County Friends of the Fair Foundation. Bennett loves gardening, cooking, and horseback riding with husband Mark. Michelle has three children Brandon (Kuna Fire Fighter), Alexis (Editor), and Mitchell (US Army).
