Dr. Justin Vance grew up in Idaho and earned a BA at Boise State University, an MA in Diplomacy and Military Studies from Hawai‘i Pacific University and a Doctor of Education from the University of Southern California.  Before coming to CWI in 2016, he served as Dean of the College of Professional Studies and Associate Professor of History and at Hawaii Pacific University.  Dr. Vance has a passion for helping students from all different backgrounds and levels of preparation reach their educational and professional goals.  During his 20+ years working in higher education, he has a consistent record of embracing innovation to meet student needs and institutional goals.  He loves working at CWI because his colleagues are truly enthusiastic about teaching and helping students succeed. 

Dr. Vance is also the author of several scholarly publications on historical topics and on the study of higher education.  Examples include “Pacific Islanders and the Civil War” in Asians and Pacific Islanders and the American Civil War published by the National Park Service and “Cyber-Harassment and Online Learning in Higher Education,” in Bully Beyond the Tower.  

In his free time, Justin enjoys motorcycling, skiing, and spending time with family.
