Cody Carlson holds an MA from the University of Utah in Modern European History and a PhD in American and Military History from the University of North Texas' Military History Center.  His areas of interest include the U.S. Army in the Second World War, Nazi Germany, the Soviet Union, and the Second World War in Europe, the Cold War, the French Revolution and Napoleonic era, and strategic studies.  His MA Thesis considered Hitler and Stalin as military commanders, and his PhD Dissertation considered U.S. Army Chief of Staff George Marshall's practice of hiring and relieving combat commanders in the Second World War.  His current research area is General Dwight D. Eisenhower in the Second World War.  Cody has taught at Salt Lake Community College, the University of North Texas, and Western Wyoming Community College.  

 

A native of the Salt Lake area, Cody is delighted to be teaching in the Treasure Valley.  A frustrated actor, Cody has appeared in over seventy productions in the Salt Lake Valley and performed improv Comedy in Salt Lake City and in Cleburne, Texas for over a quarter century.  He is an avid tabletop gamer with over two-hundred-and-fifty games in his collection ranging from historical wargames to fantasy and science-fiction titles.  He is also a YouTuber, with channels on both history and tabletop gaming.
