CWI Closed July 4
College of Western Idaho’s (CWI) offices will be closed and no classes will be in session on Friday, July 4, in observance of Independence Day. Classes will resume and offices open during regular hours of operation on Monday (July 7).
CWI Hosts i-STEM Workshop
College of Western Idaho (CWI) welcomed over 150 educators to campus for a conference focused on science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) instruction. CWI is one of six hosts state-wide for the annual Idaho-STEM workshops. The conference ran Tuesday-Friday (June 24-27) at the Micron Center for Professional Technical Education.
I-STEM focuses on Kindergarten through 12th grade instruction and is a partnership of educators, government agencies, organizations, and private companies working to improve STEM education in the state. I-STEM members include Idaho National Laboratory, universities and community colleges, the state Department of Education, Idaho State Board of Education, Hewlett Packard, Intermountain Gas, Micron, and Idaho Power. In-Kind Gift Reporting Deadline July 1
The College of Western Idaho (CWI) Foundation would like to remind all employees that the end of Fiscal Year 2014 also means the deadline is here for reporting all In-Kind Gifts. Any CWI program or department that has received a non-monetary donation in the past year needs to submit the one-page, electronic In-Kind Gift form. The form can be downloaded from myCWI and emailed to morriahmarks@cwi.edu.
Completed forms should be submitted no later than Tuesday, July 1. Please contact Morriah Marks at 208.562.3238 or morriahmarks@cwi.edu with any questions.
Spots Open for CWI's Summer Remediation Program
The College of Western Idaho (CWI) is hosting its second-annual remediation Re-Boot Camp this summer and is currently taking applications for remaining openings. The free program will run from July 7 through Aug. 1 and is designed to help improve math, English, and computer application competency while developing college readiness skills. Participants will attend sessions from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Monday through Friday.
Space is limited, so any current or future CWI students looking to improve COMPASS scores or simply gain confidence in one of these subject areas are encouraged to sign up today. Conference Room Scheduling Reminder
The College of Western Idaho (CWI) Scheduling Office would like to remind employees that reservation of select CWI conference rooms has moved from Microsoft Outlook to the College’s 25Live scheduling system.
The following conference rooms are now scheduled through 25Live exclusively and are no longer available to select in Outlook.
- Nampa Campus Academic Building 107F and 312F
- Nampa Campus Administration Building 101
- Nampa Campus Multipurpose Building 210
- Micron Center for Professional Technical Education 1117
Please continue to schedule attendees for the meeting in Outlook, however space must be reserved in 25live. Organizers should wait until confirmation is received, which will typically occur within two hours, before finalizing Outlook appointments.
There are conference rooms still being scheduled through Outlook, which can be done by selecting the Rooms button in a meeting request. The following conference rooms are still scheduled in Outlook.
- Nampa Campus Administration Building 201B (President’s Conference room) and 200
- Micron Center for Professional Technical Education 2109 and 2121
The Scheduling Office would like to remind employees that scheduled events take priority over non-scheduled events, in any space. Please contact Scheduling at scheduling@cwi.edu with any questions.
HR Updates
Employee Compensation Update
Last week, CWI’s Administration presented the first reading of the FY 2015 budget to the Board of Trustees which included recommendations for approval related to employee compensation.
The Board of Trustees approved the administration to proceed with the proposed salary changes prior to final adoption of the FY 2015 Operating Budget including a one percent ongoing increase (for eligible employees) as well as a possible 1% one-time increase mid-year contingent on meeting our enrollment targets.
Individual compensation and faculty contract details will be provided by your manager over the next week.
