Visiting Scientist Series Fall Lectures Conclude
The College of Western Idaho’s (CWI) Visiting Scientist Series fall lectures will conclude on Tuesday, Dec. 10, as Joseph Cloud, Ph.D., visits campus. Cloud is a professor of Zoology and director of the WWAMI Medical Education program at the University of Idaho. His presentation is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. in the CWI Library classroom at the Nampa Campus Multipurpose Building. Refreshments will be served at 5 p.m.
The Visiting Scientist Series is a great opportunity for students to explore advanced topics in their field, make connections to what they are currently studying, and preview what the future might hold when they transfer to a four-year institution. For faculty and staff, the series also provides a break from work to simply explore an interesting topic and engage in stimulating discussions.
For more information on the Visiting Scientist Series, please email Steve Lysne at stevelysne@cwi.edu.
Barber Receives December Staff of the Month

Matthew says he loves CWI and wants to help ensure the College continues to be a great institution.
Matthew has obtained three Associate of Art degrees from CWI in Elementary Education, Secondary Education, and History. HR Updates
ISU Tuition Reduction Benefit Changes
Idaho State University (ISU) recently made changes to its tuition reduction benefit. This change is effective for the Spring 2014 semester and applies to both graduate and undergraduate programs. Employees are still eligible to take undergraduate or graduate level courses, either in a traditional classroom setting or online.
The current ISU tuition reduction benefit states employees (but not spouses) of other higher education institutions or of agencies under the jurisdiction of the State Board of Education are eligible for this benefit subject to the same provisions and, interpretations as ISU employees, except that they are limited to six credit hours per semester and three credit hours per summer session at the reduced rate. These individuals must be accepted into a degree program and must take these credits in a traditional classroom setting on a space-available basis.
For more information please contact the CWI HR office. Read the full language on ISU’s tuition reduction benefit.
